Block Watch Alert - Residential Break-ins

Updated: Jan 19

Good Day, Block Watch Captains, Co-Captains & Participants,

Please share the following with your neighbours. Our Patrol & Major Investigations Teams are asking residents to be alert considering information from investigation of recent residential Break & Enter offences across the district, including three new B&Es reported since our Crime Alerts update last Thursday.

We appreciate ongoing vigilance of Block Watch participants for any suspicious activity. Please be alert to any individuals attending or entering properties, claiming to be canvassing, but with no identification to associate themselves with any authentic organization.

Additionally, please be watchful for any individuals, sitting in vehicles for any unusual length of time in your neighbourhood, especially if you are aware of any neighbours being away.

Investigators are following up on information indicating suspects in recent offences may have engaged in similar activities, in an apparent effort to check properties ahead of the offence.

As cautioned in many recent Crime Alert updates, it remains a common tactic for suspects to target upper floor balcony doors & windows. Please be alert to anyone entering a property at a time when contractors would not be expected, with anything that could be used to help climb.

Please report any suspicious behaviour to West Vancouver Police. Call 604-925-7300 for a non-emergency response. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
