Thank you for your attention to our Alert Tuesday regarding Residential Break-ins. Please remain watchful for any suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood following additional B&E reports across the district since our Update last week.

In particular, please be watchful for any individuals who are;

  • Attending or entering properties, claiming to be canvassing, but with no identification to associate themselves with an authentic organization.

  • Sitting in vehicles for any unusual length of time in your neighbourhood, especially if you are aware of any neighbours being away.

Investigators are following up on information from recent offences indicating suspects engaged in similar activities in a likely effort to scout properties ahead of time.

Meantime, three break-ins reported in the past week have included the persistent tactic of targeting upper floor balcony doors & windows.

For your neighbours, please be alert to anyone entering a property at a time when contractors would not be expected, with anything that could be used to help climb. If you keep ladders or other equipment on your property that might help someone access upper floors, we recommend you store it indoors or well secured so it cannot be readily used by suspects.

Please report any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Call 604-925-7300 for a non-emergency response.

WVPD has opportunities now to join our team! West Vancouver Police are recruiting for both New Recruit and Experienced (Exempt) Police Officers. We are specifically looking to fill anticipated spots for the next Police Academy class beginning in May 2023. If you or any family or friend are considering a career in policing, please visit our website at westvanpolice/join-wvpd/police-officer for more information.

Our West Vancouver Speed Watch Program is seeking additional volunteers! Speed Watch volunteers support our Traffic & Patrol Section officers by monitoring speeds in school zones, business districts, and other identified areas of concern. Speed Watch is an educational program aimed at promoting safer driving in our community. For information or to apply please email
