Residential Break-ins
A familiar tactic resurfaced in a residential break-in during the past week in the Dundarave area. Suspects broke in through a second-floor window and targeted rooms throughout the home. If you have an alarm system or are considering one, please be mindful that offenders will often access upper floor doors or windows in the hope that intrusion sensors are not installed there.
Thefts From Auto
Several Theft from Auto offences over the past week involved unfortunately easy opportunities for thieves. Since our last update six thefts from vehicles were reported in areas including the upper & eastern British Properties, Taylor Way/Marine Drive and Ambleside. Five of the six involved vehicles left unlocked overnight.
We urge you to avoid leaving any valuable items in an unattended vehicle. An unlocked vehicle creates a chance for offenders to quickly and quietly try a door handle to see what's inside. A locked car means only that your valuables are protected by a thin pane of glass offenders can readily smash through.
Please be alert to suspicious activity in your neighbourhood. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Call 604-925-7300 for a non-emergency response.
