Residential B&E
Items of value left in unsecured places. That is a recurring theme from residential break-ins & reported thefts in our latest crime alerts. Suspects found an unsecured garage door in Upper Dundarave. Several tools were stolen. In an Ambleside area home, an unsecured patio door left an unchallenged pathway in. Please make a quick security check of your home & any accessible entry points part of your regular routine.
Theft
Several theft reports since our last alerts involved similar inattention to vulnerability. Included were, an unattended & unlocked eScooter taken from parking at Dundarave, an unsecured generator stolen from an open residential carport, thefts from four different unlocked vehicles parked in residential areas, a laptop in a backpack left unattended at the Community Centre and two reports of unlocked & unattended skis stolen at Cypress.
Security of your property & possessions is not always convenient but is preferable to dealing with loss & replacement of something important to you.
March is Fraud Prevention Month
Unfortunately, another resident has fallen victim to a common scam, receiving a call from a suspect falsely claiming to represent the victim's personal bank. The suspect falsely claimed victim's identity had been stolen. Unfortunately, the victim then complied with a request to transfer funds from their accounts for 'safekeeping'. Your bank will not request any transfers like this. If you receive this kind of phone call hang-up. Call police if a caller persists.
