Among the 247 calls for police service in West Vancouver since our last update, being alert to suspicious circumstances and promptly calling police played a role in interrupting suspected residential break-in attempts this week.

Residents in the 900 block of Fairmile Rd. called West Vancouver Police just after 8pm November 17th to report suspects attempting to break-in to their home. Suspects fled the property & area prior to police arrival upon finding the residence was occupied.

November 18th, shortly after 6pm, homeowners in the 2900 block of Marine Dr. reported suspects on their property believed to be attempting a break-in. Again, suspects fled the area quickly upon finding the home was occupied. Active investigations are ongoing. If you face a similar circumstance, make an immediate 911 call from the safest place available to you.

Every day is a good day to review security of your home & property. Ensure any entry points that you are leaving unattended for any length of time are locked & secure. If you have an alarm system, ensure that it is properly maintained & set even if you plan only to be away for a short time. As we reminded you earlier this fall, please remain aware that thieves can target upper floor balconies & windows in the hope alarm sensors are not installed there. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
