Coordinator's Update - October 6th

Good Day Block Watch Captains, Co-Captains & Participants,

West Vancouver Police have responded to 268 calls for service since our last update.

Our Internet Home Changing

A heads up to West Vancouver Block Watch participants that our website content will be moving next week to an upgraded site within the West Vancouver Police website westvanpolice.ca. Updated Crime Alerts will remain available at the link above until the transition is complete. Email, phone contact details & of course our street address will not change. We will update you with more details when the official launch of our new webpage & the updated WVPD website officially goes live.

Residential Break-ins

A week without new residential break-in reports is a welcome feature of our alerts this week, however, we encourage you to take it as an opportunity to review security of your home & property to assess any vulnerabilities. Please do not hesitate to contact Block Watch for any additional information.

Ensure you do not have unsecured ladders, other equipment, trees, or other natural features close to your home that could be used by suspects to access upper floors. If you have an alarm or surveillance system, review whether intrusion sensors on upper floors will help secure your home.

Please be watchful in all neighbourhoods and promptly call police if any suspicious persons or circumstances are noted.

Crime Alerts are updated between our weekly email updates.

When there is information indicating an offence or risk specific to individual neighbourhoods, Block Captains in the area can be contacted to relay information to their Block.

Honouring a Fellow Officer

West Vancouver Police officers were proud to join Police & other First Responders from across our province, country, and the United States, supporting loved ones & honouring the life of RCMP Cst. Rick O’Brien of Ridge-Meadows Detachment at a Regimental Funeral. His death in the line of duty last month is a loss felt by officers everywhere.

If you see activity of concern, please don’t hesitate to call West Vancouver Police. Call 604-925-7300 for non-emergency matters. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency, including events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property or to report a substantive crime in progress.
